Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington
National Weather Service Pendleton OR
600 AM PDT Sat Jul 6 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 9 PM
PDT THIS EVENING FOR OR610, 611, 640, 642 FOR WINDS AND LOW
RELATIVE HUMIDITY...

.DISCUSSION...An upper level ridge of high pressure will continue
to bring significantly hot temperatures, low relative humidities
with poor to moderate overnight recoveries, and generally light,
terrain driven winds in most locations the next several days.
However, a shortwave passing through the northern Rockies today
will tighten the pressure gradient across the Cascades, resulting
in breezy winds developing through central Oregon. The breezy
winds will coincide with critically low RHs in this area,
resulting in a critical fire weather environment this afternoon
through evening. Winds will decrease into Sunday, but fire weather
concerns remain elevated across central OR.
