Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Little Rock AR
211 AM CDT Wed Jul 10 2024

...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Thursday Night)
Issued at 210 AM CDT Wed Jul 10 2024

In the wake of the remnants of Beryl moving over AR on Tue
morning...much calmer conditions are ongoing across the area early
this Wed morning. Temps have cooled into the 60s and low 70s...with
just some patchy fog noted. An upper level shortwave will drop SE
across the NRN/Mid MS River Valley region through tonight and
Thu...with AR under influence of the larger scale trough axis. Dry
condtions should continue into early Thu with no significant
disturbances passing overhead however. Some small chances for
diurnally driven convection are forecast for Thu afternoon/evening
however as a weak upper wave moves over NRN sections of the state.
Even so...think most areas should remain dry.

Temps look to remain below normal again today...then may warm back
up around normal for Thu afternoon. Dewpts will be in the 60s to low
70s...and resulting heat index values in the 80s and 90s...likely
remaining below Heat Adv criteria through the short term period.
Otherwise...no major forecast concerns are expected through the
short term period at this time.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday through Tuesday)
Issued at 210 AM CDT Wed Jul 10 2024

To begin the period, a weak upper level trough will continue to push
out of the state as high pressure builds in from the west. Through
much of the period, hot and humid conditions are expected. Diurnally
driven convection cannot be ruled out, although PoPs are kept on the
lower end with chances around 20 to 30 percent.

As mentioned above, hot conditions are will continue across the
state through the long term period...High temperatures are expected
to get into the upper 80s (highest elevations) to upper 90s with
heat index values approaching heat advisory criteria by Sunday
across much of the CWA. Overnight low temperatures are expected to
drop into the 70s.
