National Weather Service Little Rock AR
1133 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Friday Night)
Issued at 258 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024

Mid-level ridging will remain in place across the W/SW US through
the period while troughing across central parts of the country
will slowly push east. At the sfc, ridging will remain in place
over the area with a weak frontal boundary situated north of the
area.

This combination will provide near to above normal temperatures
along with mostly dry conditions. The only exception would be
across portions of northern AR where a few showers or storms are
possible today and Friday, although most of the precip is expected
to remain north of the AR/MO border. No heat related headlines are
expected, but some areas could see heat indices aoa 100 on Friday.

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday through Wednesday)
Issued at 258 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024

To begin the period, a weak upper level trough will continue to push
out of the state as high pressure builds in from the west. Through
much of the period, hot and humid conditions are expected. Diurnally
driven convection cannot be ruled out, although PoPs are kept on the
lower end with chances around 20 to 30 percent.

As mentioned above, hot conditions are will continue across the
state through the long term period...High temperatures are expected
to get into the upper 80s (highest elevations) to upper 90s with
heat index values approaching heat advisory criteria by Sunday
across much of the CWA. Overnight low temperatures are expected to
drop into the 70s.
