263 FNUS54 KLUB 040911 FWFLUB Fire Weather Planning Forecast for the South Plains Area National Weather Service Lubbock TX 411 AM CDT Thu Jul 4 2024 .DISCUSSION... Another hot day is on tap today before the arrival of a cold front this afternoon. High temperatures in the upper 90s to lower 100s is expected but similar to the past few days enough surface moisture will remain in place to keep RH values above 25 percent. Light south southwesterly winds will occur this morning ahead of the front but winds will switch around to the north and increase to around 15 mph behind it. This front will also generate showers and thunderstorms generally along and south of a line from Morton to Memphis beginning around 3 pm and lasting through midnight. These storms will be capable of producing gusty and erratic winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Winds will become easterly overnight and remain around 10 mph.
