588 FZUS63 KMQT 180758 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 358 AM EDT Thu Jul 18 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...A 30.2 inch high pressure currently centered over Minnesota sags southeast today, becoming centered over southern Wisconsin by this evening at 30.1 inches. The high pressure then rises back to 30.2 inches tonight, expanding eastward along the southern Great Lakes Basin. On Friday, the high pressure falls back to 30.1 inches. A weak 30.0 inch troughing pushes south over the lake Friday night into Saturday. More broad 30.2 inch high pressure ridging extends across much of the Upper Midwest and Upper Great Lakes Sunday. This is quickly followed by an additional weak trough at 30.0 inches that drops south across the Upper Great Lakes Sunday night and Monday. High pressure ridging at 30.1 inches looks to return over Lake Superior for Tuesday.
