...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT THIS EVENING...
...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM PDT THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...
A surge of unstable monsoonal moisture is generating a continued
slight chance of mostly dry thunderstorms across interior sections
of San Luis Obispo county. There is the threat of additional
thunderstorms in or near the fire location today, with the risk of
dry lightning strikes and strong outflow winds, potentially gusting
up to 50 mph near any thunderstorms that develop. The hot, unstable
conditions will also cause large vertical plume potential for the
fire. The risk of thunderstorms will decrease through the evening
with the loss of daytime heating, and winds will decrease
substantially overnight. Poor overnight recoveries are expected,
with low temperatures in the lower 70s.
