.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 135 PM CDT Fri Jul 19 2024

Through next Friday:

Beautiful summertime weather will continue through the weekend and
into next week with highs in the lower 80s, overnight lows in the
lower 60s, and light winds. (Note that tonight will be the "coolest"
night of the next 7 with lows in the mid to upper 50s, and that
daily lake breezes will keep shoreline locations a few degrees
cooler than inland locations each afternoon). Partly sunny to
partly cloudy skies will prevail. Diurnal chances for showers
and a few storms will incrementally increase Sunday afternoon
onward and peak on Wednesday afternoon (30-40% chance by then)
as a slowly-moving upper-level low drifts through the general
region. Low-end chances for showers and storms (20% or so) will
linger through the end of the week as another upper-level wave
moves through the region. In all, impactful weather appears
unlikely this weekend into next week.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z SUNDAY/...
Issued at 1229 AM CDT Sat Jul 20 2024

Only Concern:

- Lake breeze timing this afternoon.

Another quiet VFR period is in store. Light WSW to VRB winds
will be conducive for the lake breeze to push steadily inland
this afternoon. Northeast winds are expected at GYY around 17z.
For this issuance, shifted timing of easterly wind shift a bit
earlier at MDW (19z) and maintained 20z at ORD. Speeds will
likely be near/around 10 kt until diminishing with sunset.
