OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
853 AM CDT Sat Aug 10 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

High pressure of 30.2 inches will build across the Central Plains
in the wake of low pressure of 29.7 inches moving eastward across
Ontario/Quebec today. The cooler airmass moving over the warmer
lake associated with the low allows for marginal conditions for
showers and waterspouts across the northern third of Lake Michigan
today. Areas closer to the low pressure have more potential to
see shower and waterspout development.

Breezy winds will continue today due to the tighter pressure
gradient associated with the low. Winds will be northwesterly with
gusts around 25 knots expected. Winds will begin to decrease
overnight into Sunday as the high pressure builds into the Great
Lakes region. Light winds and dry conditions are expected to
remain in place through midweek.
