Coastal waters from Port Fourchon Louisiana to Lower Atchafalaya River LA from 20 to 60 NM... * Until 530 PM CDT. * At 433 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from 24 nm south of Timbalier Island to 36 nm east of Ship Shoal 198 to 27 nm east of Ship Shoal 295, moving southeast at 5 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves.
