.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1034 AM EDT Mon Jul 8 2024

A very quiet but muggy start to the day across the Florida Keys.
Substantial dry air is moving into the region as noted in our
sounding this morning between 850 and 650 mb. This dry air is the
leading edge of a Saharan Air Layer that is working it`s way
westward across the Lesser Antilles and Bahamas. This
unsurprisingly has shut down almost all rain chances. Currently
KBYX radar shows no precipitation echoes in our immediate
vicinity. Satellite representation is a a little different. It
would seem that as the leading edge of the dry layer approaches, a
mid deck of clouds has sprouted but this will be brief.

The lack of clouds, a light southeasterly wind, and dew points in
the upper 70s will lead to heat indices between 108 and 112
degrees today. As such a Heat Advisory remains in effect for the
Florida Keys. Extra precaution should be taken today to reduce the
risk of heal-related illnesses. With the dry air in place, near
nil rain chances will persist through the remainder of the day.
Therefore, no changes needed at this time.

No watches, warnings, or advisories are in effect. Gentle to
occasionally moderate southeasterly breezes will slacken through
this afternoon. High pressure will build westward across the
Florida Peninsula and into the Gulf tonight through the rest of
the week, bringing gentle to occasionally moderate easterly
breezes to the Keys waters for Tuesday through Friday.
