778 FXUS62 KKEY 020301 AFDKEY Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Key West FL 1101 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1100 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024 For the most part it has been a quiet overnight thus far for the Florida Keys. At one point we were watching an outflow boundary move northward from collapsing thunderstorms that developed over Cuba. This boundary made it to within throwing distance of the Hawk Channel waters before quickly dissipating with no effects felt on the island chain. The current radar trend has been a continued decrease in precipitation echoes with no new activity detected. Confidence is lower tonight than last night. The surface inverted trough that sparked off last night and this morning`s activity has shifted to our west. There is a mid level inverted trough still nearby but it remains to be seen if it can trigger new convection. Models are conflicted on if new showers and thunderstorms develop and where. They are trending that a restart could happen during the early morning hours prior to sunrise Tuesday. && .MARINE... Issued at 1100 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024 No watches, warnings, or advisories are in effect. High pressure over the western North Atlantic will maintain gentle to moderate easterly breezes across the Florida Keys. Hurricane Beryl will remain south of the Florida Keys as it marches west northwest through the Caribbean Sea Tuesday through Thursday. Breezes will freshen Wednesday and Wednesday night as Beryl makes its closest approach. Please review the Tropical Cyclone Advisories for additional information on the track and future evolution of Beryl. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 1100 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024 VFR conditions will be the predominant for the overnight. Still waiting and watching for new convection to fire up and unsure which terminals will see the best chances for new activity. Otherwise, east to southeast winds will prevail through the forecast period. && .KEY WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... FL...None.
