...NWS Damage Survey for 07/15/24 into 7/16/24 Severe Weather
Event...

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms raced across northern
Illinois into northern Indiana during the late evening hours of
July 15th into the early morning hours of the 16th. Reports of
trees and power lines down have been received in multiple counties
with details still being gathered across the area.

An NWS storm survey has been performed on the south side of
Elkhart west of US-33, between Lusher and Hively Avenues where
several trees were either snapped or uprooted. It has been
confirmed that a brief tornado occurred in this general area with
wind speeds of at least 85 mph, consistent with a high end EF0.
Additional details will be released later today once the survey
team returns and the data assessment is completed.
