...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1960, thanks to around 6 inches of rain, major
flooding inundated most of Coffeyville.  In 1988, severe
thunderstorms broke out along a slow moving cold front
from Central Kansas to Southern Wisconsin late in the
day.  Parts of Iowa were pummeled by 3 inch diameter
hail.

In 1989, severe thunderstorms whip lashed Las Vegas with
winds that reached around 115 mph! Around 82 aircraft
were damaged or destroyed at Henderson Sky Harbor Airport
and at McCarran International causing around $14 million
damage.
