...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1980, clouds and rain from Hurricane Allen provided a
brief break from the historic, hideous heat wave that had
gripped most of the Southern Plains, as high temperatures
were only in the 70s and 80s.  In 1988, the remnants of
Hurricane Beryl produced torrential rains in East Texas
where Mount Enterprise, located around 135 miles
southeast of Dallas, received twelve and a half inches.
This total was more than the amount the town had received
in 1988 prior to Beryl`s arrival.
