693 FXUS64 KHUN 111732 AFDHUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 1232 PM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024 ...New AVIATION... .NEAR TERM... (Rest of Today) Issued at 959 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024 The on-going forecast is on track, with broad surface high pressure over the region controlling the area`s sensible weather. Area temperatures as we near 10 AM have warmed into the lower 80s with light winds. High temperatures later today should rise into the lower 90s. The daytime heating and available moisture should result in the development of few to scattered fair weather cumulus, with cloud bases in the 5000-8000 feet AGL. These clouds should fade as we go into the evening, with a loss of daytime heating. An upper low pressure system situated a few hundred miles east of the GA/SC border will move westward over the next few days. The approach of this low, and a feed of moisture from the Gulf will gradually increase RH values (and higher apparent heat values) as we go into the weekend and especially early next week. && .SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Sunday Night) Issued at 349 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024 Lows should only drop into the upper 60s to lower 70s Friday morning. A trend of late morning and afternoon cloud development looks to continue over the weekend. This should help to temper highs a bit. However, with upper level ridge strengthening and 925 mb temperatures climbing each day slightly, highs by Friday afternoon should reach the 90 to 95 degree range before topping off over the weekend in the mid to upper 90s. && .LONG TERM... (Monday through Wednesday) Issued at 349 AM CDT Thu Jul 11 202 Less cloud cover seems like a good bet early next week, as a weak boundary caught up in the high building over the area sinks southeast of the area. This could allow daytime highs to reach the century mark then. Also, with a frontal boundary to our south moving northward, more low level moisture should move into the area. This may bring some isolated showers or thunderstorms to northern Alabama during that period into the middle of next week. However, the biggest impact will be the heat next week. With the air temperatures climbing into the upper 90s to around 101 degrees possibly early next week and higher dewpoints moving into the area in the afternoon, Heat Advisories or Excessive Heat Warnings may be needed early next week into the middle of next week. Especially given most guidance is forecasting lows next week in the 73 to 77 degree range next week. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1232 PM CDT Thu Jul 11 2024 A broad area of high pressure situated west of the region, will result in a light northerly flow over the Tennessee Valley. Daytime heating and available moisture should result in few to scattered fair weather cumulus this afternoon. These clouds should fade as we go into the evening, with generally clear skies tonight. A development of fog late tonight cannot be totally ruled out; however confidence remains too low for addition in the TAF. Light NE winds are forecast Fri morning, with a few fair weather cumulus forming a few hours after daybreak. && .HUN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... AL...None.
