In 1938, the temperature reached 110 degrees in Colby
Kansas, setting a record for the month of August at that location.

In 2011, an intense thunderstorm moved across Red Willow County
Nebraska. Hail to the size of baseballs produced an estimated 10
million dollars in crop damage across the county, and several
people received minor injuries as hail broke skylights and windows.
