...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1894, with temperatures over 100 degrees a hot wind blew across
southwest Nebraska shriveling crops as it blew continuously at speeds
of up to 30 mph for 24 hours. Even the buffalo grass had shriveled
and died, and crops of oats, barley and corn were destroyed.

In 2001, nearly three inches of rain in a short period of time
near Abarr Colorado caused several inches of water to run over
county roads and put yards under water.
