...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1996, in Quinter Kansas winds associated with a thunderstorm
were estimated between 100 and 120 mph. Widespread damage was
reported, including a convenience store which was
unroofed, damaged signs, irrigation equipment, trees, power
lines, and crops. A 100 foot cement silo was also blown over.
