In 2002, drought conditions worsened from extreme to exceptional
during the month of July across the Tri State area. Hot
temperatures and much below normal rainfall during the month
continued to stress crops and livestock in the area.

In 2011, strong thunderstorms rumbled across the Tri-State area
during the afternoon and evening, resulting in flash flooding near
Wild Horse, Colorado and near Hill City, Kansas.
In northern Sherman County, an off-duty NWS employee reported
water waist deep flowing across the county road near his residence.
