...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1924, 6.5 inches of rain fell in Benkelman in less than two hours.
Considerable damage was done to homes and businesses with water
cresting at the top of street signs.

In 1995, in Cheyenne County Kansas five to six inches of rain
within one hour caused flooded roads, crops, and pastures. Fences
were damaged. Route 161 north of Bird City was closed.
