.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1231 AM CDT Sun Jul 6 2025

As this stagnant mid-level pattern persists with an elongated high
over northern Mexico and troughing across Texas and a low pressure
system over the central Gulf that will retrograde westward bringing
a change to the pattern next week. Currently, the remnants of a
decaying MCS over central Texas is expected to drift southwestward
tonight in response to northeasterly flow aloft. This will result in
increased shower chances across our CWA to around 20-30% today. Then
as activity continues to move off to the west rain chances Sunday
night will drop to generally 10% or less. The aforementioned Gulf
low will become an inverted trough as it nears the Texas coast,
increasing rain chances (25-40%) Monday and Tuesday mainly across
eastern half of our CWA.

Temperatures this upcoming week will range in the low to mid 90s
through midweek then increase to the mid 90s to around 100 through
the end of the week. The increase in temperatures with dewpoints in
the mid 70s will result in heat indices approaching 110 towards the
end of the week across portions of the Coastal Plains and Brush
Country, while the rest of the region will experience heat indices
of 100-105. Resulting in a low to moderate heat risk throughout the
week. Overnight lows will hover in the mid 70s across South Texas
with around 80 along the coast.

Finally, a plume of Saharan dust moving towards the TX coast will
affect the region with increased hazy conditions generally from
Wednesday through Friday, resulting in air quality concerns.
