.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1232 AM CDT Tue Jul 8 2025

An inverted trough currently over the Gulf, just off the Louisiana
coast, is slowly progressing westward towards the Texas coast
through tomorrow/Wednesday. This feature, combined with PWATs
currently ~1.70" dropping to below normal values (~1.50" by Thursday
evening) will be the primary driver for isolated to scattered
showers and thunderstorms across the region, particularly in the
afternoons/evenings. There is low to moderate (30-60%) chances for
showers across the eastern half of our CWA, primarily northeast
today, dropping to 30-45% Wednesday. As the week progresses, the
inverted trough is expected to dissipate as it moves further west,
leading to a reduction in widespread shower/thunderstorm activity
with up to a (20-35%) chance of activity across northeast portions
of the region Thursday through early next week.

Temperatures will remain warm and humid. Expect low- to upper-90s
region-wide Tuesday and Wednesday with low 100s out west for the
latter half of the week into early next week. Heat indices will
generally range from 100-105 degrees with western locales getting up
to around 110 starting this weekend. Expect overnight lows ranging
in the mid 70s across the CWA early in the forecast inching towards
the low 80s this weekend out west.

Saharan dust moving towards the TX Coast from the Gulf, will likely
lead to hazy conditions and the potential air quality issues from
Wednesday through Friday. Please visit TCEQ for air quality
conditions and follow their recommendations.
