Hurricane Beryl has made landfall near Matagorda Texas early this
morning and will continue its northerly track this morning. Rain
bands continue to affect mainly Calhoun and Victoria counties with
heavy rain and gusty winds persisting. Lighter showers are noted
through the remainder of the Northern Coastal Bend. As Beryl
continues to pull out of the area, associated hazardous weather
will exit by later this morning. Wind gusts to 75 mph have been
noted in the Matagorda Bay area and at Port O`Connor.

As the storm exits, a very warm day is expected across much of the
area. With lingering low level moisture, this will lead to heat
index values topping 110 in the southern Coastal Plains this
afternoon, thus a heat advisory is in effect. High temperatures
will top 100 west today with mid and upper 90s for the southern
coastal bend. Slightly cooler in the northern coastal bend due to
lingering clouds from Beryl through the morning.

NBM is indicating low rain chances this afternoon inland of the
coast, however think this chance to be minimal so will have silent
PoPs. A much quieter night tonight with lows in the mid and upper
70s due to lingering surface humidity.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday night through next Sunday)

After having Beryl to talk about for more than a week now, the
long term period is going to seem rather boring - but we`re ok
with that. Mid level troughing will remain in place through late
in the week and will keep rain chances in the forecast, mainly a
diurnal sea breeze situation. Tuesday/Wednesday looks to be a bit
healthier of a sea breeze with scattered activity. Later in the
week, we`re back to our normal isolated coverage. High
temperatures remain at or slightly above normal tomorrow, but drop
back a couple of degrees for the latter half of the week, mainly
in the 90s. We may need another heat advisory Tuesday for the
southern Coastal Plains.

Hurricane Beryl continues to move northward toward the Matagorda
area. Most of the rain is currently over the waters and
approaching the VCT TAF site. The highest chance for TSRAs is
across the VCT area as rain bands rotate around Beryl through the
overnight hours. Showers remain possible across CRP, with the
lowest chances for ALI. Generally expecting MVFR conditions with
periods of IFR through the night across VCT, then improving by mid
to late Monday morning. MVFR conditions also expected to prevail at
CRP with possible showers through early morning. Brief MVFR CIGs
expected at ALI. COT and LRD are expected to remain VFR through
the TAF period with the eastern TAF sites following suit through
Monday morning as Beryl exits the area. Additional, isolated to
scattered showers are possible during the day across the eastern
TAF sites. Strongest winds are expected at VCT over the next
several hours as Beryl moves just east of the area.

Tropical storm Beryl continues to produce tropical storm
conditions over the waters. The storm is slowly deepening and
could become a hurricane before moving out of the middle Texas
waters. Hurricane conditions are possible tonight into early
Monday with wave heights up to 17 to 22 feet. Gradually improving
conditions can be expected late Monday through the middle of the
week. Expect widespread showers and thunderstorms through Monday,
with scattered thunderstorms lingering through the end of the
week.
