For the following areas... Lake Ontario from Sodus Bay to The St. Lawrence River... At 125 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 11 nm west of Stony Point, or 23 nm northwest of Mexico Bay, moving east at 35 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, and large hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high winds and hail. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves. Locations impacted include... Pillar Point, Oswego, Mexico Bay, Southwick Beach, Henderson Harbor, Westcott Beach, Chaumont Bay, Selkirk Beach, Stony Point, Sodus Bay, Fair Haven, Sandy Island Beach, Tibbets Point, Black River Bay, Sackets Harbor, North Pond, and Cape Vincent. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, large hail, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain are possible with this storm. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts.
