At 556 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Canaan, or 12 miles south of Great Barrington, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Sheffield, Norfolk, Canaan, Sandisfield, Falls Village, Winsted, Ashley Falls, Salisbury, New Marlborough, Colebrook, South Norfolk, Sodom, South Canaan, Konkapot, Wangum Village, Gomorrah, Mill Brook, Montville, Alander, and Southfield. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding.
