754 WGAK87 PAJK 161130 FLSAJK Flood Advisory National Weather Service Juneau AK 330 AM AKDT Tue Jul 16 2024 .Heavy rain has caused small streams to rise significantly over the past 24hrs. The rain is beginning to let up, however light rain is still being reported. River levels are beginning to lower but some are still above minor flood stage. AKZ325-161800- /O.CON.PAJK.FA.Y.0008.000000T0000Z-240716T1800Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ City and Borough of Juneau AK- 330 AM AKDT Tue Jul 16 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM AKDT THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Areas Around Auke Lake And Jordan Creek Mall. * WHEN...Until 1000 AM AKDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River or stream flows are elevated. Soils remain saturated and excessive runoff will result in minor flooding of rivers, creeks, lakes, streams, and other low-lying areas and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 321 AM AKDT, Satellite estimates and rain gauge data indicate heavy rain across the advisory area. Between 3.0 and 8.0 inches of rain have fallen in the last 72 hours. Rainfall rates have lowered but light rain is still being reported. - For Auke Lake near Auke Bay: At 2:00am the stage was 33.3 feet. Flood Stage is 33.0 feet. Impacts: At 32.0 feet: This is bankful conditions along Auke Lake. At 33.0 feet: Water from the lake will inundate yards of homes along Auke Lake. For Jordan Creek near Juneau: At 2:00am the stage was 9.7 feet. Flood Stage is 9.7 feet. Forecast: A crest has happened, Jordan Creek river level is falling, still above bankful stage. Impacts: At 9.2 feet: This is the stage when Jordan Creek is at bankfull and water will begin to inundate areas along the edges of the creek near Race Reality and Jordan Square. At 9.7 feet: Water will inundate the Jordan Square`s front and back parking lots, around Jordan Creek office condominiums with up to one foot of water. Some residential driveways will be flooded and cut off. - If you live near or along Auke Lake and Jordan Creek, or other small streams stay alert and be prepared to take action.
