...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 PM MDT THIS
AFTERNOON FOR SOUTHEASTERN LOS ALAMOS AND NORTHWESTERN SANTA FE
COUNTIES...

At 323 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicates that earlier thunderstorms
produced heavy rain across the warned area with estimates between 1
and 2 inches. While rain has currently ended, more storms are
approaching from the northwest, and additional rainfall amounts up
to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Southeast Los Alamos, White Rock and Bandelier National Monument.

This includes the following recreation areas...
Buckman River White Rock Canyon and Bandelier National Monument.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Arroyos, streams, and normally dry rivers can become raging killer
currents in a matter of minutes. Water in arroyos can travel many
miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
