At 128 PM, National Weather Service radar detected a large area of
showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rain generally in
southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Thunderstorms with
locally heavy rain were located in Leflore and Choctaw counties in
Oklahoma and Sebastian county in Arkansas and was more widespread in
northeast Texas and far southwest Arkasas. The precipitation was in
the Fort Smith area. Movement was to the northeast at around 15 mph.
The average amount where it rained last hour was one tenth to one
quarter of an inch with maximum amounts of two and a half to three
inches. Coverage, and intensity increased during the last hour. The
Tulsa area forecast for this afternoon, mostly cloudy, showers and
thunderstorms likely with temperatures 81 to 85 degrees and
northeast winds up to 10 mph.
