...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas, including
  the following counties, in east central Kansas, Douglas and
  Shawnee. In northeast Kansas, Jefferson.

* WHEN...Until 1045 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Rises in small streams. Ponding of water on roads causing
  hydroplaning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 841 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small stream
    flooding. Spotters and radar are showing between 2 and 3
    inches of rain falling in as little as one hour.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Topeka, Lawrence, Baldwin City, Rossville, Tecumseh, Eudora,
    Richland, Silver Lake, Perry, Meriden, Lecompton, Clinton,
    Lone Star, Pleasant Grove, Clinton Lake, Grantville,
    Berryton, Williamstown, Perry Lake and Pauline.
  - This includes the following highways...
    Interstate 70 between mile markers 350 and 355.
    Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 171 and 205.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
