Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
341 PM MDT Wed Jul 3 2024

.Discussion...

Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible over the plains
this afternoon and early evening, with isolated dry thunderstorms
occurring over the mountains through late this afternoon.

For July 4th, it will be unseasonably cool for July 4th, with
temperatures only in the mid 80s over the plains and 70s and 80s
valleys. Some spotty critical fire weather conditions will be
possible across the interior locations, especially the northern
San Luis Valley and the greater Chaffee county region.

From Friday and into the weekend, and into next week, mainly dry
northwest mid level flow will be over the district. Temperatures
during this period are expected to be a few degrees below normal
for this time of the year. Given the rather stout mid level
northwest flow over the region, it will likely be breezy to windy
across the higher terrain, and there may be some critical fire
weather days over the mountains later in the period.

Smoke dispersion will be good or better tomorrow afternoon and
Friday afternoon.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
