1104 AM ChST Sun Jun 30 2024

Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between
the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is
based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar,
and meteorological analysis.

...SPECIAL FEATURES...

None.

...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS...

NEAR EQUATORIAL TROUGH...
A Near-Equatorial Trough (NET) enters the region near 7N130E and
extends northeast across Palau and Yap producing scattered showers
and isolated thunderstorms for Palau, Yap, and further south towards
the equator. The NET is expected to lift north over the next day or
so.

TRADE-WIND TROUGHS...
Some clouds and light showers are seen near Chuuk and Kosrae due to
trade-wind troughs. The trade-wind trough is embedded in an easterly
trade-wind pattern near Chuuk. Near Kosrae, it is embedded within a
weak zone of convergent trade winds which is expected to develop into
a Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) the next few days.

TUTT...
A Tropical Upper-Tropospheric Trough (TUTT) comes down from the
northeast near 25N153E to an upper-level low near 16N137E, west of
the Marianas. East of the upper low, spotty showers and isolated
thunderstorms can be seen. This upper low is expected to move west
and out of the region. Another TUTT extends from 23N175E to near
12N161E which is in the area of the northern Marshalls. Spotty
showers are seen over a broad area near Kwajalein and Majuro and is
expected to move west across the region. The TUTT associated with
the convective activity is expected to weaken as another TUTT
develops over the Marianas possibly bringing scattered showers later
in the week.

...ITCZ...
The ITCZ is developing and converging just north of Majuro and
building into Kosrae. Spotty showers are seen across the area, and is
not expected to see much significant development. It is expected to
move west across eastern Micronesia and bring pockets of heavier
showers near Pohnpei and Chuuk. Later in the week, another trade
convergence is expected to develop near the Marshalls possibly
bringing heavy showers for Majuro and Kosrae.
