754 AXPQ20 PGUM 040040 TWDPQ Tropical Weather Discussion National Weather Service Tiyan GU 1040 AM ChST Thu Jul 4 2024 Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... None. ...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS... NEAR EQUATORIAL TROUGH... A NET extends from EQ157E to 3N150E and to EQ144E. Convection is robust just north of the trough where a weak circulation may be located. This feature will generally shift westward over the coming days. TRADE-WIND TROUGHS... A series of trade-wind troughs exist across the region. The first extends from 25N174E to EQ166E. This trough is interacting with an upper level jet to cause widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms for Majuro. The next trough is located from 23N155E to EQ160E. This trough is bringing numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms to Kosrae. The next trough is located from 27N145E to 18N144E. This trough is interacting with a TUTT cell to bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms just west of the Marianas. A group of trade-wind troughs extend from about 22N136E to 12N125E and to EQ130E. There is a weak circulation embedded within these troughs. The troughs are also interacting with a TUTT cell. Some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms exist with these troughs. The trade-wind troughs will generally move westward over the coming days. TUTT... A TUTT extends from 27N179E to 16N170E with a TUTT cell just to the east of 28N180. Benign weather is seen to the west of 180 with some isolated showers and storms east of 180. A TUTT extends from 20N148E to 10N130E. Two TUTT cells are embedded within the TUTT and are located at 18N143E and 12N133E. There are isolated to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms associated with the TUTT. The TUTT near 180 will be overtaken by the upper jet over the coming days, while the TUTT across the Marianas and western Micronesia will shift westward. $$ Williams
