167 AXPQ20 PGUM 080052 TWDPQ Tropical Weather Discussion National Weather Service Tiyan GU 1052 AM ChST Mon Jul 8 2024 Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... None. ...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS... A weak circulation is located near 6N130E and has a surface trough that extends from 6N133E to 15N148E. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are seen just to the southeast of the trough near 10N148E or just northwest of Chuuk. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are seen near the weak circulation just to the west of Palau and Yap. This feature should continue westward out of our AOR the next few days and should allow showers to become isolated for Palau and Yap. NEAR EQUATORIAL TROUGH... A NET extends from 5N180 to EQ170E to 4N150E. Isolated showers and storms are seen along this feature. This feature will shift westward over the next few days and will bring the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms to Pohnpei and Kosrae tomorrow. TRADE-WIND TROUGHS... A trade-wind trough extends from 12N176E to 6N171E. There are some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms associated with this trough. The trough is expected to move westwards the next few days and could bring some rain to Kwajalein later today. A second trade-wind trough is located from 10N154E to 6N150E. Isolated to scattered showers are seen with this trough just to the north and east of Chuuk. This feature will move westward over the next few days. TUTT... A TUTT extends from 20N150E to EQ135E. A TUTT cell is located near 10N140E. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are seen near the TUTT cell. This feature is expected to move westward and could bring isolated thunderstorms to just north of Yap later tonight. $$ Williams
