.Very heavy rains fell across the area overnight. Radar estimates
along with ground observations suggest anywhere from 3 to 7 inches
of rain fell in a short period of time. Many roads remain flooded
and many creeks and rivers will rise throughout the day. Do not
drive through flooded roadways.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest Iowa, including the following
  counties, Fremont, Mills and Pottawattamie and Nebraska, including
  the following counties, Butler, Cass, Douglas, Lancaster, Otoe,
  Saline, Sarpy, Saunders and Seward.

* WHEN...Until 230 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
  remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to
  excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 233 AM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in
    the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or
    expected to begin shortly. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain
    have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
    warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Omaha, Lincoln, Council Bluffs, Bellevue, Papillion, Seward,
    Ralston, Wahoo, Gretna, David City, Bennington, Boys Town,
    Elkhorn, Millard, Offutt AFB, La Vista, Crete, Plattsmouth,
    Glenwood and Carter Lake.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
