.SYNOPSIS...Major Hurricane Beryl is approaching Jamaica this
morning, located near 17.1N 76.1W at 11 AM EDT, moving west-
northwest at 16 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 125 kt with gusts
to 150 kt, and the minimum central pressure is 952 mb. Beryl is
expected to maintain a W-NW motion and weaken slowly, moving
inland over the Yucatan Peninsula Fri morning and weaken to a
tropical storm. Meanwhile, for the Atlantic waters moderate to
fresh winds will prevail. Seas to 8 ft there will subside by the
end of the week. Conditions will also improve in the Caribbean
by the end of the week, in the wake of Beryl, and a wind surge
associated with a strong tropical wave passing through the area
Wed afternoon through Thu afternoon.
