Issued at 927 AM EDT Fri Jul 5 2024 Hot conditions today, with a Heat Advisory set to go into effect from Noon to 6pm today across much of the interior. In the Advisory area, heat indices are forecast up to 110 degrees. Elsewhere, peak heat indices 105-107 degrees. Use caution if spending time outdoors today. Be sure to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks, preferably in an air conditioned space. High temperatures are forecast in the lower to mid-90s. Some relief may come in the mid to late afternoon, with scattered showers and storms developing along the sea breeze collision. A slightly dominate east coast sea breeze will lead to a collision on the west-central area of the peninsula, however PoPs forecast around 30-50% over interior portions of the forecast area. Made a slight adjustment during the update this morning to decrease PoPs to 20% or less along the coast east of I-95. The main threats with any storms today will be gusty winds up to 45 mph, frequent lightning strikes, and locally heavy rain that could lead to minor, nuisance flooding.
