738 FNUS54 KMAF 041904 FWFMAF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 204 PM CDT Thu Jul 4 2024 .DISCUSSION... Aside from a risk of fire starts for critically dry fuels due to lightning and gusty, erratic winds from storms in the western higher terrain, fire weather conditions remain low through the end of this week into next week. Increased clouds, min RH above critical, good overnight recovery, continued light winds, and cooler than average temperatures Friday and Saturday and again Monday into the end of next week will help limit fire risk, even though wetting rains in storms will not be a guarantee. Highest fire risk each day will be located from southern Culberson County into the Presidio Valley and Big Bend, but even there RFTIs will be low. && For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office.
