482 FXUS64 KLZK 051939 AFDLZK Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Little Rock AR 239 PM CDT Fri Jul 5 2024 ...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Sunday) Issued at 237 PM CDT Fri Jul 5 2024 A broad trof of low pressure will persist across the central section of the US through the period. The cold front that pushed thru Arkansas will stall out south of the state, and a few lingering showers and thunderstorms may occur in the vicinity of the front overnight into tomororow, possibly affecting the southernmost parts of the forecast area. Saturday should bring pleasant weather to the bulk of the forecast area, as high pressure settles into the area. The front will begin moving back to the north as a warm front on Sunday, and showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the southern half of the area by Sunday afternoon. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday Night through next Friday) Issued at 237 PM CDT Fri Jul 5 2024 H500 troughing will persist across the middle/eastern parts of the country through much of the long term period with ridging noted across the West as well as along the SE coast. This will provide a persistent W-NW flow locally and encourage a steady stream of disturbances across the state. Early next week a front will move into the state and stall over the area. This stalled front will help focus activity near and along it. Periodic rain chances remain in the forecast, with much of the activity likely diurnally driven. By the middle of next week, moisture associated with the remnants of Beryl will approach the state and could potentially influence rainfall amounts. Main area of concern remains difficult to pinpoint this far out, but will continue to monitor with future model runs. One thing that seems likely during the period is below normal temperatures. Highs in the upper 80s F to lower 90s F would be well received in early to mid-July along with overnight lows below 70 F in many areas. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
