Very hot and dry conditions will persist at the Poppy Fire location until around sunset. Humidities will gradually rise above 20 percent during the mid-evening hours, but recoveries are expected to be poor, near 35 percent. Gusty southwest winds will become light and terrain-driven in the late evening and overnight. Conditions on Thursday are expected to worsen, with temperatures a few degrees warmer, and humidities dropping slightly. There is a 20 percent chance of upper single digit humidities on Thursday, but lower teens are more likely. Winds will be light through around 1100 hours, then increasing and becoming gusty from the southwest (westerly through Soledad Canyon) in the afternoon. .TONIGHT...
