033 FZUS63 KMKX 030801 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 301 AM CDT Wed Jul 3 2024 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... Low pressure around 29.3 inches across far northwestern Ontario will drag a weak cold front across Lake Michigan through the morning. Winds will turn more west-southwest behind it and pick up through the afternoon with gusts to around 20-25 knots. Then a weak area of high pressure around 29.9 inches over the Central Plains this morning will gradually slide into the area this evening easing the west-southwesterly winds this evening into the start of Thursday/Independence Day. Winds will gradually increase through the evening as low pressure treks across the Upper Mississippi River Valley and deepens to around 29.6 inches over WI overnight into Friday. Expect northeast-east winds across the northern half of the lake and more west-southwest winds across southern portions as the low pressure system tracks across the middle section of Lake Michigan Friday evening/night. As low pressure lifts into eastern Ontario/Quebec Saturday, expect more northwesterly winds behind it to gradually weaken through Saturday evening.
