SYNOPSIS...
A heat wave will slowly spread eastward across Northern and
Central Nevada Sunday through Tuesday. By Tuesday afternoon, high
temperatures will be around ten degrees above normal for this time
of year. Triple digit heat is possible in Elko Tuesday afternoon
for the first time this calender year. Dry weather will persist
for at least the next seven days.

SHORT TERM...Tonight through Sunday night
An area of high pressure will be centered over Northern California
tonight. This area of high pressure will slide southward into
Southern California Sunday and Sunday night. An Excessive Heat
Warning is in effect for Humboldt County. An Excessive Heat
Warning is in effect for Lander, Eureka, and Northern Nye
Counties, starting at 10 AM PDT Sunday morning. High temperatures
Sunday afternoon will range from 97 to 102 degrees in the valleys.
Near record heat is expected in Winnemucca and Tonopah Sunday
afternoon. This type of heat will result in a major weather risk
for heat-related illnesses, especially for those without effective
cooling. Take precautions by staying out of the sun, limiting
outdoor activities, and drinking plenty of water. This heat will
slowly spread eastward early next week as a ridge of high pressure
builds over the Silver State.

LONG TERM...Monday through next Saturday
A strong ridge of high pressure will continue to bring hot and
dry weather for much of next week. Winds will generally be 10-15
mph each afternoon, with stronger winds at 15-20 mph possible by
next Saturday. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 90s to low
100s across the area though higher elevation sites will see highs
in the mid to upper 90s. Lows will be in the 60s each night under
partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.

AVIATION...VFR conditions expected for the next 24 hours at all
terminals. Breezy WNW winds around 10-12 knots with gusts to 20
knots will diminish this evening as light terrain-driven drainage
winds take hold tonight.

Breezy winds from the NW expected to affect most TAF sites Sunday
afternoon and evening, increasing to 10-15 knots with gusts to
20-25 knots. Above normal temperatures may produce periods of
increasing density altitudes over the weekend and into early next
week.

.FIRE WEATHER...UPDATE: The Red Flag Warnings for fire weather
zones 438 469 and 470 expired at 8PM this evening. The Fire
