...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1986, thunderstorms caused major flash flooding in
Leavenworth Kansas.  Officially, there were 10.37 inches
of rain, but unofficial reports exceeded 12 inches.
Officially Kansas City measured 5.08 inches, establishing
a daily record for July.

&&

In 1936 North Dakota recorded its highest state
temperature ever.  The mercury reached an astounding 121
degrees in the town of Steele, located in South-Central
North Dakota.
