In 1998, severe thunderstorms progressed across portions of western
Kansas dropping 5 to 7 inches of rain and producing strong, damaging
winds. A trailer home was destroyed with debris scattered up to a
quarter of a mile away. Significant rainfall amounts produced areas
of flash flooding, damaging roads and bridges in southern Sherman
County. One home in Logan County was reported to have flooded from
high waters.
