121 FXUS65 KGGW 070728 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 128 AM MDT Sun Jul 7 2024 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: 1)Isolated thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. These storms may produce brief downpours, along with gusty and shifting winds. 2) An upper level ridge will bring hot temperatures by mid week, with moderate to high (50 to 70 percent) confidence of a few locations reaching triple digits on Thursday. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Once again, isolated and weak thunderstorms are expected to follow a diurnal cycle of initiating in the early afternoon and coming to an end in the evening. Much of this activity will likely remain east of Phillips and Petroleum, extending eastward to the North Dakota border. An upper level ridge will move in by Monday, extending its most intense presence on Thursday, with triple digits forecast for a few locations. With very little heat so far this summer, heat safety will play a crucial role this week more than usual. There is little indication of any precipitation through the weekend. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence is low on the exact timing and placement of individual thunderstorms this evening, but high that the storms will pop up somewhere in the CWA today. Confidence is also high that upper ridging will yield dry weather and a warming trend in the upcoming work week. Conditions will be monitored for the potential for heat related products in the coming days. -Hicks/Stoinskers && .AVIATION...
