National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD

.DISCUSSION...

Temperatures remain on the low side of average for this time of
year through the middle of the week. Periodic isolated showers are
possible each afternoon and into the early evening hours.
Accumulations should remain low, a few hundredths to a couple
tenths. Light winds may allow for patchy fog formation in the
early morning hours.

Thursday and into the weekend, summer heat is expected to build
into the region. Highs will increase a few degrees each day until
they reach their max on Sunday in the upper 80s and mid 90s. Dew
points will begin in the mid 60s and increase to the upper 60s to
low 70s by Saturday. There exists chances for isolated showers
the second half of the week, but confidence is low on their
occurrence.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the low category
this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the
ground, indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is
low. Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.

OUTLOOK FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native
grasses. It is not intended for cured agricultural crops, nor
will it reflect conditions in road ditches which have been mowed.
