.DISCUSSION...Extreme and prolonged heat has finally reached its
peak today with widespread highs well above 100 and RH in the
single digits. A weak surface low off the coast will enhance
afternoon westerly winds through Sunday. The gentle with gusts
only reaching up to 20 mph, terrain funneled areas of Trinity and
Lake Counties will see periods of critical fire weather each
afternoon and evening through Sunday. Conditions will slowly
moderate next week especially closer to the coast where a proper
marine layer should finally return.
