Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.54 miles Path Width /maximum/: 50 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/25/2024 Start Time: 05:25 PM CDT Start Location: 2 N Ely / Linn County / IA Start Lat/Lon: 41.9105 / -91.5765 End Date: 06/25/2024 End Time: 05:38 PM CDT End Location: 2 NNE Ely / Linn County / IA End Lat/Lon: 41.9055 / -91.5701 Survey Summary: A non-supercell, or landspout tornado touched down in a field about 2 miles north of Ely in Linn County Iowa Tuesday evening. The tornado caused crop damage and moved very slowly to the southeast. The tornado then snapped large tree limbs along Ivanhoe Road, and damaged a power pole cross member. The tornado also lifted some loose asphalt and tossed it a short distance away. The tornado then moved through a grove of trees before lifting in a field. The tornado was rated EF0, with maximum winds estimated around 85 mph. The path width was estimated around 50 yards and the tornado was on the ground for 10 to 15 minutes. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
