.PREV DISCUSSION...
SHORT TERM...Today through Monday night...Hottest temperatures
this weekend coincide with the upper ridge over Oregon. Record
and near-record highs are forecast for some locations in
southeast Oregon, including Baker and Burns. A Heat Advisory is
in effect for most of southeast Oregon. The passage of an upper
trough in the northern Rockies will enhance the winds across our
area this afternoon with gusts of 25-35 mph. The ridge edges
closer on Monday, spreading the heat into southwest Idaho which
will likely be the first day of many for several high temperatures
meeting or exceeding 100 degrees in the valleys. An Excessive
Heat Watch remains in effect for all of SE Oregon and most of SW
Idaho.

LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday...Multi-day 100+ high
temperatures are forecast throughout the week with the strong
upper ridge dominating across the region. An Excessive Heat
Watch remains in effect for all of southeast Oregon and
southwest Idaho. Dry conditions prevail, although models
continue to hint at some increasing high-level moisture later
in the week...but not enough to warrant any showers or
thunderstorms at this time.
