Thunderstorms are forecast to develop this afternoon across the Panhandles, especially central and eastern Panhandles this afternoon into this evening. Severe storms are possible with the main risks being from damaging winds up to 70mph, hail to the size of golfballs. Another round of thunderstorms should affect more of the Panhandles during the overnight hours in association with a front. These could be strong but the overall severity should be lesser than the afternoon storms. Another concern with either round of storms today is heavy rainfall leading to localized flooding. Rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour is possible, which could lead to flash flooding. The combination of moisture present, recent heavy rainfall, and multiple rounds of expected storms will make for flooding concerns especially in the eastern and southeastern Texas Panhandle. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. While drier conditions should prevail through the week, additional showers and thunderstorms will be possible during the afternoon and evening hours through the week. At this time, none of the storms are forecast to be severe. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation is not anticipated at this time. $$
