...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(The rest of today )
Issued at 1043 AM CDT Fri Jul 19 2024

Below normal temperatures continue today with afternoon highs in
the mid to upper 80s. Dew points will remain quite dry for this
time of year as well, mostly in the 50s to low 60s. This will
lead to mostly sunny skies, light winds, and comfortable
conditions.

.LONG TERM...
(Tonight through Thursday)
Issued at 312 AM CDT Fri Jul 19 2024

Upper level disturbances rotating around an upper trough just to
our east will result in increasing shower and thunderstorm chances
this weekend into early next week. Saturday night and Sunday will
likely feature the greatest rain chances, but most rain amounts
will remain rather modest.

Upper heights will begin to rise next week resulting in lessening
rain chances and warmer temperatures. The proximity of the upper
trough just to our east may result in mainly diurnal shower and
thunderstorm chances through much of the week, with the greatest
chances across southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.
Temperatures will warm to near or just slightly below the seasonal
averages by late next week.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1154 AM CDT Fri Jul 19 2024

Winds will be mostly light and out of the northeast this
afternoon, gradually shifting to southeasterly by Saturday
morning. There will be long periods of nearly calm wind speed with
a variable direction. Skies will remain mostly clear with patchy
high clouds and afternoon low level cumulus at times. By 18Z
Saturday a few showers and thicker cloud cover could begin to
impact northeast OK, but model guidance was too inconsistent to
include in the TAFs at this time.
